How do I request a journal article through Interlibrary Loan?

How do I request a thesis or dissertation through Interlibrary Loan?
To request a thesis or dissertation not available at Pius Library or the MOBIUS network, complete the electronic dissertation form available through ILLiad.

Special Information about Dissertations: Some universities loan their dissertations if they have a second copy. The format may be hard copy, microfilm, or microfiche. There may be no charge or a lending fee up to $25.00. Many Canadian dissertations may be borrowed for free on microfiche from the National Library of Canada. Many American universities send their dissertations to ProQuest Information and Learning for reproduction. These dissertations can be purchased in an unbound format through Interlibrary Loan from Dissertation Express for $29.00. (Price effective 1/02/01)

How long do I have to wait for the material to get here?
You generally should expect most (not all) photocopies to arrive here within 5-7 business days (Monday-Friday). Books should arrive within 14 business days.

How will you notify me when my material is ready to be picked up?
Our preferred method is to send an e-mail message to your e-mail account notifying you that your material has arrived and is ready for pick-up. If your office is on campus, we use the Interoffice Mail system to send the material directly to you. Please indicate during ILLiad registration how you prefer to be notified when your material arrives. If you wish to change your notification method, you may do so in ILLiad. We will try to accommodate most requests; however, you must provide an accurate e-mail address for notification and an accurate office address for delivery.

If a loan can only be obtained for a fee, am I required to pay if I no longer need or want it?
Yes, if you agree to pay for an interlibrary loan, non-payment may affect library privileges. If your item(s) is/are not picked up within three weeks, the charge will be put on your patron record and privileges will be blocked until payment is received.
